LAGCOE a success, industry optimistic about future

It is with great hope that I write this column, encouraged by the latest events in the oil and gas industry. The Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition (LAGCOE) was a success.  We heard from a number of speakers who spoke to the future of the oil and gas industry — and it was a positive tone. The oil and gas industry has undergone some wholesale changes that will only be encouraged by a federal administration that endorses domestic production. This was made evident in the announcement that the next lease sale will include more areas than ever before. This was met with great enthusiasm from attendees.

It was fitting that this event was hallmarked by the decision to name Don Briggs, the President of the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, as LAGCOE Looey. This distinction is given to those individuals who have made a positive and lasting impact in the oil and gas industry. The list of past recipients includes many industry titans, and Don’s inclusion in this group is well deserved. I have known and worked with Don for years and am proud to call him a friend and colleague. He embodies the spirit of the oil and gas industry, and will face the industry’s slow recovery with the same determination and dedication that defines him…
