Rep. Steve Scalise on gun control: Focus should be on enforcing existing laws, not creating new ones

U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, who was critically wounded in a shooting at a congressional baseball practice in June, on Sunday reiterated his support of the Second Amendment and said that the focus of the debate on gun control should be on enforcing existing regulations, according to a report.

In an interview with Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Scalise said he believes that instead of passing new gun reform regulations, the country should focus on enforcing existing laws.

“Don’t try to put new laws in place that don’t fix these problems,” Scalise, R-Jefferson, said in the interview. “They only make it harder for law-abiding citizens to own a gun”…
