With only one week to go in the legislative session, we saw some good move movement this week on several of our bills.
With the EPA considering our state’s application for primacy as it pertains to Class VI injection well permitting, it was great to see a show of support from our legislature.
Senate President Page Cortez introduced a resolution pressing the EPA to grant Louisiana primacy in a timely fashion.
You can read the resolution HERE.
We were at the Senate Revenue & Fiscal Affairs committee this week to testify in support of Rep. Jack McFarland’s HB 634, one of our highest priorities this session. This bill would provide clarity to the definition of when the Deep Well Exemption begins.
I was also in the House Ways & Means Committee to voice our support for another one of our highest priorities, Senator Allain’s SB 5. You may recall, this bill was one that we asked Senator Allain to run last year that would give alternatives to paying under protest as it pertains to ad valorem taxes.
The bill passed, and now goes to the full House for final passage.
