Don, as he was affectionately known, was born in Miami, FL and was a resident of Lafayette for over sixty years. He was successful businessman in the oil and gas industry and founded the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association in 1992. He dedicated the next thirty years of his life representing the industry that he loved.
Don was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and caring friend to so many. He was a devout Catholic who spent many years as a Eucharistic Minister at nursing homes and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Whether in the oil and gas industry or in his Catholic faith, he enjoyed serving others across Acadiana.
Some of his hobbies included fishing in the Florida Keys, working in his vegetable garden, photography, duck hunting and traveling. Although he had many interests in life, his greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
His favorite saying, "Just a little bit better" ~ Don Briggs
